Almarin has carried out the renovation of two floating dock modules in the Port of Aguete, in Ría de Pontevedra (Spain). These breakwater pontoons protects the port fleet from wind-generated waves, moored to a field of buoys and the docking pier used during the summer season. The actions have included the removal and cleaning of two of the eight existing breakwater modules and the construction and installation of two modules 20 meters long, 5 meters wide and 1.8 meters deep each.
With these new modules weighing 67 tons per piece and one meter wider than the current ones, so an improvement in berthing conditions is expected in that area of the port. The mooring system is made up of a 44 mm chain and a sinker of 10 tons with a special design to penetrate the ground when a pull of the chain occurs. The floating breakwater modules of the QMF range have been manufactured by Lindley. These works have required special means such as hydraulic transport platforms and a 500-ton capacity self-propelled crane.
