The Port of Ibiza has renovated its berthing area for the fishing fleet. The work consisted of renewing the original pontoon, which dated back to 1993 and had already reached the end of its useful life. Almarin, through Sealand On-Offshore Services S.L., the awarded contractor of the 'Adaptation of the mooring system and floating pontoons of the Fishing Dock at the Port of Eivissa' tender, issued by the Balearic Port Authority, provided a total of 48 linear meters of Lindley concrete pontoon.
To access the pontoon, an aluminum access walkway with a length of 8 meters was installed. This type of pontoon is characterized by its robustness to withstand a high overload for fish loading and unloading operations.
The pontoon serves 30 fishing or motor sport boats up to 8 meters in maximum length. One side of the pontoon will be used by the Fishermen's Guild to moor fishing vessels, while the other half will be used for direct management moorings and uses by the APB.
The challenge of the project was to carry out this intervention while minimizing interference with the port's operations.
